RIMI at Little Big Horn College
Bricc--Building Research Infrastructure for the Crow Community--is an amibitious and exciting new program at LBHC made possible by the the NCMHD RIMI Program. RIMI (research infrastructure for minority institutions) is designed to establish and improve the scientific infrastructure at minority academic institutions. RIMI provides resources to strengthen faculty initiated research programs and improve the capacity for training future research scientists. A core goal of the RIMI Program is to build a community of new minority-serving scientists through faculty development and student programs. The Bricc/RIMI program awards 2.5 million dollars to LBHC over a five year period. Bricc is the first RIMI grant awarded to a tribal school to date.
The RIMI program grant provides a means for LBHC to:
- Strengthen its basic research infrastructure and capacity to improve and/or strengthen the institutions science programs;
- Institute a comprehensive research faculty development training program;
- Establish an academic research enrichment training program for students interested in a science career; and
- Support, as part of the supervised training process, individual faculty initiated research projects that may lead to development of independent researchers in minority health and health disparities.
